BRIGITTEGATE
COURT CASES
THE FIFTH CASE
Brigitte has no sense of humour and feels the need to punish the people whose joke unexpectedly changed her official tax registration into “Jean-Michel”

FIFTH CASE: SEPTEMBER, 2024, PARIS
BRIGITTE MACRON
vs
LAURENT A. & JULIETTE A.
Fraudulently change Brigitte Macron’s name in the
French national tax system
Identity theft [!!]
- At the end of January 2025, the French satirical and formerly (but not any longer) anti-establishment Le Canard Enchaîné breaks the story that Brigitte Macron filed a complaint against a couple from Corsica (an island off the west coast of Italy that belongs to France), who she accused of having changed her name in the French national tax registry to “Trogneux, Jean-Michel, known as Brigitte”.
- In their tax filing, the couple had listed the whole government including Brigitte Macron (as “Trogneux, Jean-Michel, dit Brigitte“) in the box labelled “Other disabled persons in your care”.
- The Brigittologists were not informed or aware of this case before or during the hearings, and only found out about it through the article in Le Canard Enchaîné.
- On February 21, 2025, the Paris court ruled against Brigitte Macron and cleared the couple from all charges.
- The court found that the change of name in the system was a result of a software malfunction and not of direct intervention by the couple.
- The issue resurfaced in the international press at the end of October 2025.
- There is nothing known about Brigitte Macron having appealed the verdict, but she mentioned the case as if it was ongoing in her appearance on January 4, 2026 on national TV in the evening news of TF1.
